Voy a hacer este DD dividiendolo en 4 fases:
1) ¿Quien es Michael Burry? El doctor e inversionista Michael Burry es conocido por ser uno de los pocos que predijo la crisis del 2008, y se benefició de ella de manera bestial, yendo en contra de las hipotecas subprime (algo asi como una inversión en corto). Tal fue el logro que Christian Bale lo interpretó en la aclamada película The Big Short (La gran apuesta). Se describe así mismo como una persona con un leve trastorno de autismo. Yo personalmente, lo vi siempre como el típico yankee obsesionado con la perfección en cada una de sus inversiones. Esto lo podemos ver en su selección de acciones con grandes valores fundamentales (aunque no le crean el tipo también la pego al bet de WSB "Gamestop"), el gran acierto de derivados financieros como sus calls y puts, y su elevada confianza en tener poca diversificación en cartera
2) ¿Por que me gusta el sector del gambling? En primer lugar, debo admitirles que siempre fui un fanático de ver el nivel de locura que manejaban algunas personas al ir al casino. Y no hablo solamente del juego en si, sino del elevado nivel de gastos de estas personas en lujosas habitaciones, costosos tragos o incluso comidas. Otra de las cosas que me llamo mucho la atención, es la preparación del ambiente, a través de su música, sus olores, o incluso la vestimenta de los empleados del lugar. Debemos recordar que personalidades con gran olfato para los negocios estuvieron en este sector, como lo son Sheldon Adelson o incluso el ex presidente Donald J. Trump. Ademas hagamos mención , de que últimamente una gran cantidad de compañas del sector están incursionando en el gambling online, el cual ha demostrado ser extremadamente rentable. 3) ¿Por que estas 2 compañas? Primero y principal: Porque todas las personas del grupo tienen la posibilidad de invertir a través de la bolsa local mediante al acción de $BOLT y el cedear de $LVS. Las Vegas Sands: Esta es una de las compañas mas monopólicas del sector, principalmente en los mercados de Macao (recordemos que en China los casinos están prohibidos, por lo que las personas suelen ir a barcos en el área marítima de Hong Kong o directamente a Macao) y en Singapur. Tambien debemos recordar que sus casinos mas emblemáticos, los posee en Las Vegas como su nombre lo indica, pero que los últimos años, pasaron a ser una menos del 30% de los ingresos que produce la compaña. Personalmente Adelson nunca tuvo la iniciativa de comenzar a incursionar en el sector del gambling online, pero ahora que falleció hace poco, es probable que la nueva dirección tenga iniciativa viendo la gran competencia en el sector. Particularmente, si realizamos un análisis minucioso de sus finanzas podemos ver que la acción esta en un precio con gran descuento, si tenemos en cuenta que el EVITDA que genera a día de hoy la compaña es demasiado bajo por la situación del COVID-19. Para que se den una idea, cotiza a precios de 2005 en las ultimas ruedas. Debemos recordar que esta compaña, cuenta con una gran cartera de clientes VIP, que no reparan gastos para poder ver a personalidades del espectáculo, comer las mejores comidas, escuchar a sus DJs de moda favoritos, o jugar grandes sumas de dinero en sus casinos. Y por supuesto, el mercado asiático esta creciendo a tasas agigantadas. Lo negativo es que la compaña tiene unos ratios de endeudamiento bastante altos. Ademas corren varios rumores de que la compaña piensa enfocarse totalmente en el mercado asiático, y vender sus casinos en Las Vegas, cosa que para algunos puede ser negativa, pero para mi es una excelente decisión, ya que los ingresos que produce en ese lugar son mucho menores.
Boldt: Esta compaña la decidí incluir personalmente sobre todo porque es una de las empresas mas infravaloradas del MERVAL. Si vemos sus últimos estados contables, podemos ver unas perdidas billonarias, pero aun así, la compaña cuenta con una solvencia a corto plazo envidiable para afrontar sus deudas menores a 12 meses, superando por amplio margen sus activos corrientes a sus pasivos corrientes. Otra de las razones por las que pienso que sus fundamentales la acompañaran a largo plazo, es que hace muy poco tiempo, la compaña comenzó sus casinos online. Debemos de tener en cuenta que la situación económica en la Argentina es muy inestable, y que la economía no acompaña el crecimiento de este tipo de empresas. Ni hablar de la burocracia. When earning points, there's a multiplier, depending on the game. For some games, even ones with moderately high house edges like roulette, it's 1x ($1 bet earns you 1 point). Not good. For straight sports bets, it's 3x. Meh. But for parlays, it's 25x!
And even though it's in the title, I'm gonna need to say this, because I know some people right now are screaming "Because they're parlays dude! That's why! They're horrible!" Nope, not true, at least not at Bovada. And from what I understand/assume, most online sportsbooks. (I'd be curious to know how many sportsbooks still butcher their parlays.) They pay exactly the same as if you bet at -110 and let it ride over and over. In the end it's the same ~5% house edge, you are simply increasing volatility (drastically, I might add, which I'm aware can ruin you, but that's not the point here). Another example of these butchered parlays, is your typical 5 team parlay. At Bovada (and probably most online sportsbooks), it pays almost 25:1. Yet go Google "what does a 5 team parlay pay" and you will get answers like 20:1.
Also, in general, these rewards are better than they look. Which they look like this... Sports pays 3x, and 2500 points is $1. So it requires $833 of bets to earn $1. "That's awful!" Except you're not spending $833, you're gambling it; the vast majority of that $833 will be returned to you. So let's multiply that $833 by 5% (roughly the house edge of sports betting and roulette) = only $42?! Yup, $833 is really $42 truly spent... So they're giving you $1 back for every $42 you're projected to lose. That's not insignificant, and is on par with other reward programs in life, such as your credit card. But still, $1 for $42 is not that great. OK well that's just regular sports bets that are 3x. Parlays are 25x the points (733% more points than straight bets, a shocking difference, thus why I made this thread), so now we're talking about getting $1 for every $5 you're projected to lose. Keyword projected, as you will be paid whether you win or lose. So mathematically, parlays pay 20% of the house edge back to you at Bovada, whereas straight sports bets only pay 2.4%. That's a considerable amount of house edge removed to consider playing more parlays, despite the variance.
Kind of strange if you ask me. Like the reason you still might not want to bet parlays, despite the lower effective house edge, is the swings. Agreed. OK, but swings don't affect the casino, so what reason would they offer this? It doesn't make them more money. Not unless the average person bets literally 9x as much when they bet parlays. Which obviously isn't true. So they're encouraging people to play parlays, giving them 8x the rewards, why?

[NEWBIE] Learn from My Experience. Try Your 1st Guitar in Person Before You Buy Online

Background: Longtime reader, first time poster. I am a 40 something that failed learning guitar from a cheap Strat copy when young. Decided to take guitar up agin late spring 2020 during Covid lockdown. I was limited to places I could order from (open). So, I could not tryout guitars in person. Left with just going off reviews of gear or from what artists I listen to play. I decided to concentrate on places close to me in case there were problems with the guitar. Also, went with a place that said they did a full setup before sale, which was important to me from my research. The place I settled on was 45 minutes away.
The Gear: The first guitar I went with was a Squire Classic Vibe 70’s Custom telecaster. This was a demo model sold at a discount. It arrived with fret buzz on the low E and it appeared the brass saddles were out of whack with the whole bridge rattling. I contacted the guitar shop and sent them videos. They tried have me do adjustments over the phone. No luck in improving. The suggested sending the guitar back. I didn’t want to wait 7-10 days to receive it back. I felt like I was losing time (The irony once you read the rest of the story). They offered to return and exchange for another guitar if I brought it in person. Doing the exchange outside. I jumped on it. As I didn’t want to wait and the telecaster didn’t feel comfortable to hold or play.
The guitar I exchanged it with what was available was an Epiphone Les Paul Muse. This again was a demonstration unit. I drove did the exchange. I got it home and to my disappointment there was fret buzz on Low E, A and D strings. Also, this guitar even felt more uncomfortable to play. I kept feeling like I was slouching down around the guitar to play, I’m 6’ 3”. I contacted the guitar shop again and they offered to fix or exchange. I took the exchange option again to save time and it was uncomfortable.
With stock they had I settled on a Gretsch 5222. Drove and did the exchange again. This was a demonstration unit as well. This guitar was definitely the best out if the 3 comfortability wise. Sound, Fit and finish was the best too. One thing I struggled with was the thin-u neck. I found that doing chords I could never get my thumb comfortable as it was so thin by the headstock. Later, learning songs I found the bridge rattling when I did power chords and such 10 fret or higher. Sounded terrible. Turned up my amp high to try to cover the noise. I decided to change the strings (wanted to try to go down to 9’s to see if it would make easier to play) and do a beginner setup to see that would help with the help of the internets. No improvement. There are few videos and many forum posts about Gretsch bridges rattling. That is what I would hear. So, I decided to try to get this fixed under warranty going through and approved Gretsch dealer right near my house.
I took the Gretsch 5222 do the guitar shop in the dealer network. The person I checked the guitar in with said he felt it was just fret buzz ant the guitar would just need a setup. At this point I’m so frustrated with the sound of the guitar I left it for the full setup for $50. The guitar was finished a week later. I arrived to pick it up and I kid you not, there was still rattle or fret buzz according to them. Although, it was slightly better. They suggested to take it home and try it out through my own amp. If there were still issues bring it back. Well, got it home and I could hear the sounds coming through the amp with headphones even. I brought it back. They worked on the guitar for an hour while I there. They couldn’t get it to stop. They did the old “That is the way it is”, “This is Gretsch’s low line”. The last ditch effort was to move back to a set of factory 10’s. This cleared rattle/buzzing on the E. I still felt like I could hear the A and D string. It was loud in there, hard to tell. I got it home. Through the 2-week holiday stretch and was disappointed that the unwanted sound was still there.
I made the decision to investigate if I could trade it in. I didn’t want to be without a guitar for a week or more. Plus, I never felt good with the 5222. Still felt I was slouching over to play sometimes and the neck being so slim up top. I decided to mostly target larger semi-hallow and hollow guitars. Thought they would be better for me being taller. Researched as much as I could and targeted the usual value picks of Epiphone (335, Coupe, Sherition, 339, Casino, Rivera), Ibenez 73, D’ Angelico DC, etc. I thought the Casino was going to be my favorite.
Went to Guitar Center first. Had a good selection to look at. Setups were all terrible. One was the worst I ever seen; the frets were like knives. Nothing spoke to me. A D’ Angelico DC was probably the best built there. Still felt small, but better than my 5222. It was hard to flag someone to even get a ladder for me. Couldn’t find anyone to estimate my trade. Decided to bail.
There was the original well-known guitar shop I would have gone to way back at the beginning of my Journey if lock down did not happen. I got there and the staff was super helpful and knowledgeable. Totally listened to my situation. They assessed my 5222 and gave me space to look, like I should have done at the beginning. I just went around looked and held all the models. I held Semi-hallows, offsets, telecasters. Didn’t plug them in. Just felt them in my lap and hands. Played difficult chords. Listed to them resonate. It came down to 2 guitars. An Epiphone 335 Figured Blueberry figured and an Ibanez AS73FM Green Valley Gradiation.
There was a clear winner side by side by holding them and plugged in. The Ibenez 73 Flamed Maple Green Valley Gradiation was the guitar for me. The shop offered me $120 less than I paid for my 5222 and I took it without thinking twice. My fingers just fit the Ibanez. The thicker neck feels great. It doesn’t make chords harder for me, it makes it easier. The guitar felt like it fit me. The sustain is fantastic, I can play unplugged. The fit and finish was good. Flamed top looks really cool and I never would have pictured me with a guitar like this. Is the tone the best in the world? No. But, I think they are averagely versatile from what I read, heard and seen. I honestly have to let the tone go. I’m such a beginner I don’t know what good tone is yet. I’m just looking for something I want to pickup all the time, makes it easier for to play and therefore learn. I will upgrade later or may be never. I may always love it.
TL/DR
To beginners similar myself. Don’t just go off reviews/videos and order online. Try out guitars in person first. There is plenty of advice like this that I wished I would have taken from the beginning. The guitar should feel good in your hands, lap, standing, or however you play. I have progressed more in the last 2 weeks than I have in the last 3 months with the right guitar. I really attribute this to the ease of play. I’m not fighting the guitar as much. Going in person will open your eyes to new possibilities you may not have pictured in your head. Plus, you may find issues with the guitar before you purchase. Hope this helps someone.

Hi guys! Recently I've properly learned poker and quite enjoy it as a game with half skill half luck oppose to other casino games.
I went to try and find an online site which offers it to learn online poker is banned in Australia! The baffles me as lotto, pokies and other casino games are all allowed online. It makes it seem that one of the few games where the 'house' isn't taking the majority cut is banned.
I have read that we are still allowed to play on overseas operated site though. So does anyone know of any sites that accept Australian players?

DKNG - Fundamental DD Part II - DKNG

Not Financial Advice (NFA)
Warning: Wall of Text. If you hate reading just skim through the bolded/italicized
Ever since I publicized my findings on DKNG, the stock has underperformed & probably has fucked a lot of people here, especially given the overly bullish stance back in June. Unless you took my advice & got into Puts then, congrats, welcome to tendie town. For the ADHD retards, here’s what the next wall of text is going to summarize: I believe at the current price of ~$30, the stock is oversold.
A tech-focused, high-growth Company that has made sports betting easy to understand with an aesthetically pleasing interface similar to how Robinhood has neatly laid out stock market gimmicks so even high-schoolers can make sense of it I believe, is underpriced at these levels.
Let’s get into some details as to why the stock has underperformed:
First off, the news slate revolving sports with the rumored delay/cancellation of the MLB season & the NFL watching from the sidelines is in my view, just a part of why the stock has underperformed. We’ll revisit this later in this post, but I want to focus on the drivers of the stock’s recent underperformance, & why these factors are now in the rearview mirror.
Part I – The Past Has Passed – SPAC-related Equity Dilution
History lesson first: DKNG went public via a SPAC merger, which has exploded in popularity recently. Anyone serious about analyzing stocks going forward needs to do their homework on this, Google is your friend.
A feature of most SPAC merger to public listings that creates a headwind to near-term share prices are embedded equity dilution events, usually in the form of earn-outs (stock bonuses to execs, the SPAC sponsor) & conversion of Warrants.
On 5/24, the earn-outs were triggered, adding 6m shares to the share count.
On 6/26, 16.3m warrants converted to DKNG, netting them ~$188m of cash.
Stepping back a little, in addition to the above, on 6/18 DKNG launched a follow-on equity offering of 16M shares @ $40/Share [1], receiving $621M in proceeds.
The last part is tricky to understand from a dilution perspective. To simplify, historically it’s almost a coin toss whether a Company’s shares outperform on the onset of an equity offering. While issuing shares does dilute the existing shareholder base, it theoretically shouldn’t, if the proceeds from the offering are earmarked for investments/projects that yield outsized returns. This is the reality for the long term, theory for the short-term. For the short-term, the ‘reality’ isn’t that the proceeds will be used for investments/projects that yield outsized returns, it is more about how convincing management is to investors that the investments they intend to pursue with the proceeds will outweigh the dilutive effects of issuing incremental shares. That’s a mouthful, but hopefully you get what I’m trying to convey.
All of this stuff put together – the Company has increased its share count by ~39M, but now has a whopping ~$1.4Bn of cash [2]. More on this in the next section.
Part II – MLB News Should Not Fucking Matter & DKNG Is Positioned As the Leading Online/Mobile Sports Platform
DKNG should not be so tied to MLB news or any of this shit as the ongoing success of the NBA/NHL season + Soccer in Europe has effectively created a blueprint on how to regulate player behavior so that they maintain professionalism amidst the pandemic. I’m going out on a whim here, but I truly think the MLB threatening a cancellation of the season is pure posturing to get these fuckers to behave appropriately. Maybe a ‘bubble’ is what it takes to get these players to focus on their jobs instead of going out & contracting COVID, but I argue that isn’t necessarily required given Soccer in Europe. So there’s already a proven path here without the need for a bubble in Soccer, so MLB/NFL should be fine, and execs need to study how they got it done in Europe. Okay, back to some facts.
Anecdotally, I’ve kept in touch with a handful of sports bookies from California to New York & even internationally about what they’re seeing – all of them say that since the NBA season started on 7/30 & since Soccer (especially the Premier League) resumed in June, along with other leagues like La Liga & Serie A, they’ve seen massive increases in betting.
These numbers are also showing up in the official data [3]:
REMEMBER: This is for June only! No NBA, No NHL, No MLB, just Soccer, Golf, NASCAR & UFC.
The data clearly shows that there was a ton of pent-up sports betting demand, which leads one Wall St. analyst to think that betting on the NBA/NHL could ABSORB the MLB’s sports betting handle (handle = total $ size of sports bet) [5]. Remember, the MLB season is still ongoing, with games being played. The entire focus is on the Miami Marlins & St. Louis Cardinals. Fucking retards.
Additionally, I want to remind everyone that DraftKings.com is the #1 Fantasy sports website in the U.S. [6]. Also, since April 2020 site visitations are up +86% [7] & Google Search Trends for “Draft Kings” is up ~3x compared to PRE-COVID levels [8]. What does this mean? They are piquing more people’s curiosity than prior to COVID/ongoing slate of sports.
This is important because remember that ~$1.4Bn chest full of cash I mentioned DKNG had assembled earlier? Well, that money is being put to work & results are already coming in, which is exactly what DKNG intended to do with it.
Part III – Legalization of Sports Betting in the U.S.
I could write a fucking bible on this topic alone, but for now we’ll stick to some basics. Due to COVID, it’s easy to understand that each State’s financial situation is clearly in shit. Because of this, you better believe that these guys are going to start taking a hard look at how they can extract additional tax revenues, & what’s one of the easiest ways to do this? Legalization & taxation of gambling.
The big players: CA, TX, FL & NY. First, CA pushing its legislation out to 2023 was fucked up, but here’s a twist I want to add to this: Anything that has to do with gambling in CA you better believe is lobbied against by not just the Tribal casino owners in CA, but by the deep pockets of Las Vegas money. Similar thing can be said for FL, but let’s take a look at some actions by LV/nationwide gambling companies that are starting to align financial incentives with guys like DKNG.
So it’s safe to say going forward, nationwide legalization of sports betting will reap rewards for everyone involved, & no longer be something LV money is completely focused on safeguarding.
Let’s also not forget that DKNG didn’t become the Company they are today because of their fancy app, but because their management team has a HISTORY of navigating the U.S.’s legal framework to get what they want out of it.
These guys are at the cutting edge of creating legal frameworks to successfully launch their products & now with more of their ‘competitors’ financially aligned with them, combined with financial deterioration of State budgets, we should see an overweighting of good news vs. bad on the legal front.
Final Part – Share Price Targets

8/14: DKNG files 2Q’20 results, might be shitty, but you can bet that the Earnings Call is going to contain rhetoric on how massive the uptick in sports betting has been since late June/July.

8/20 – 9/7: PGA Championship for FedEx Cup Title
9/5 – KY Derby
9/10: NFL KickOff Game
9/17: PGA U.S. Open Start Date

Trapped in a family pretending to be happy

This is a long read. I hope you have the patience to hear my story. I know I need help. Thank you.
I made a new account just to post here because my brother might recognize my username if I used my personal Reddit account. This is quite a lengthy story since I haven’t really put into words everything that’s happened to me and my family before, but every time I feel negative, I try to do something new to calm my emotions, and today I found this subreddit and already I can relate to a lot of posts. I just want to hear what you have to say, and what advice you can give me. Thank you, everyone here is of great help.
I am now 21/F, in quarantine in an Asian country with my family: a brother 5 years older than me, my mom, and my cheating father. My brother and I are both still in post-graduate and are not earning, it’s also typical in Asian households to stay with parents until you get married or actually earn.
I’ll start from the beginning. In mid-2014, the entire family was made aware of my cheating father. He had multiple mistresses, some longer than the others, some already in 6-year long relationships with my father by then, some just prostitutes, etc. Until today, we don’t even know if he has other families. Before 2014, all I knew was a happy family, and I lived in a bubble of peace and joy, seeing families as unbreakable, especially mine.
Of course, my father denies it. My mother has caught him too many times to count, sometimes he even missends me messages to his mistresses and dismisses it as he was just supposed to text someone named Honey. We all tried to live normally, but everyone knows that behind the scenes is my father cheating. I know he’ll never change, I don’t believe in cheaters changing anymore. Also because of him, I’d rather not get married at all, if I’m going to live a life as miserable and trapped as my mom’s.
In 2015, before I entered college, my parents’ fighting reached a peaked and we actually had a family meeting wherein my father said it’s better for them to separate. It was all very dramatic. Him saying that the upcoming separation is not his fault, that it was my mom’s for snooping on his messages. He says he’s ok to just support us financially. Makes me think he’d rather live a life of a bachelor fucking around instead of living a content and happy life with his family. He says thats time and time again, he only loves my mom. His texts to his mistresses telling them he loves them (+ the money he sends them) say otherwise. He even says that he’s not a bad man, citing examples that our uncles are also cheaters, as if it’s ok for him to do it because everyone else does. This meeting traumatized me forever. It also made my brother and I closer, him and me against the world.
That meeting did not end my family. We continued living a “normal” life. Trying to live happily, fake smiles, maybe sometimes genuine smiles, all knowing that behind it all was an unresolved hatred towards my cheating father. He never changed. Until now in 2020, I know he’s cheating, still with multiple women he funds. Even during a viral pandemic, he’d leave the house and fuck around. Sometimes I’d think it’s okay for him to die, of course I regret this idea immediately after. But the pain he’s caused our family, especially our mom, knowing full well that we are suffering because of him, and yet he doesn’t change, maybe he deserves his daughter thinking about him that way?
Anyway, back in 2015, I even told my dad that maybe they should go to couple’s therapy. He refused, as he doesn’t believe in counseling. For context, he also tells us stories of his childhood, how he was bullies for being a short boy, how his own father would just drink alcohol all day and rage, while our grandma would word day in and out. Very patriarchal, I know. Unfair for women, not progressive. I believe this is one of his “excuses” for his actions. He’s been through worse as a child, he has freedom now, he isn’t even close to how horrible tm grandpa was to my grandma, so it’s ok for him to cheat now, right? Keep telling yourself that, dad. I know there are many unresolved insecurities in him that explains why he’s acting this way, but it doesn’t make it right. It will never be right.
In 2016, my dad came clean to me, my brother, and my mom, not about his infidelity, but about the debt he has plunged our family in. Around $500,000. Our house, rest house, cars, lots, apartments for rent, all are under loans. Because of his gambling addiction. He’s been going to casinos since 2008, even blamed my uncle for making him start gambling. Before all this, we lived a rich lifestyle, travelling yearly, buying branded clothing. To say the least, my father was very materialistic. I believe this goes back to his poor childhood. He even equates designer bags to love. He buys only my mother LV, Gucci, Hermes bags, therefore she’s who he loves alone.
To alleviate the debt, he tried joining a multi-level marketing scheme business. The entire family was against this, we all know networking somehow makes us of gullible people, exploiting them for your own advantage as being top of the “pyramid”. He didn’t make any money until this year. That’s 4 more years of additional debt, I already lost count. During those 4 years of networking, he’d make “business meetings” as excuses to leave the house, and go back at 5am. All the while my poor mother still took care of him when he got sick from overworking his stubborn ass at midnight (might also add in some fucking around with mistresses) and then returning to his day job as a doctor. The cycle repeats.
With us being deep in debt, he decided to ask the help of his rich brother. Who later on he got mad at, for making him feel like his self-pity was unwarranted. My dad always had a high ego, even when we was in debt, even when he had nothing. Anyway, this uncle helped us, paying off debt that had interest, so our debt would be only to him, without added interest. We still haven’t paid 1/4 of it until today.
Through it all, we had to change lifestyles of course. Less extravagant, but not problem for me as I’ve always wanted live a simple life, even when my father forced all the Burberry onto me when I was young. For years this went on until today.
2017-2018 was the same. I always hated going home from college because I know I’d go home to my parents shouting, fighting, making me their messenger despite eating at the same dining table, resenting my father even more. Seeing my poor mother cry at night but still work in the day to help my father pay the debt, trying to stay strong for me and my brother. Fyi my brother gets anxiety attackes whenever he sees my parents fight. Then my dad would just brush it off, saying that he should accept this as our reality and that he should adjust, since my dad won’t change his ways. Every now and then we’d have happy moments, I can’t recall how many times I’d write in my diary how I despise my dad, and then write afterwards to just accept him. He’s a good man anyway. It’s all a gray spot sometimes.
Through it all, I try to take care of myself, seeking people to talk to in 7Cups, watching YouTube videos of how to cope, Googling people with the same experiences and how they handled it. I survive until today.
In 2019, I was graduating college, ready to get into post-grad school. I was accepted in my dream university, and for a while I thought that made my dad change. Maybe also comes with age, but he became.. less hot headed. But the cheating was the same. He was also diagnosed with a block in his heart.
March 2019 was another peak fight for my parents. My dad got furious and I heard glass shattering outside my bedroom door. I refused to go out the rest of the day, I even called my older brother living 2 hours from our house, saying I want to leave home. We made a plan that if I wanted, I could pack and just leave. I decided to stay. That night, my father left the house, and I told my mom to leave my dad. She said it was going to be like this until they grow old, and she’d accepted it. She’s a saint, and I pity her for being trapped in this unhappy marriage. She said that my dad provided for us well, he may be cheating but he put food on our tables and we’re all in a warm house. I refused to believe marriage was only this bare minimum. But at 20, I probably don’t know any better. This talk made me realize my mother will live in a life like this forever. Knowing her husband cheats around, financially supporting other families despite drowning his own family in debt. I wanted her to live happily and love freely, but she says she chooses our family still.
Morever, I know divorce will be too messy for their ripe age of 50s. Our clan has strong filial ties, considering our Asian traditions. A divorce would be too much of a chore.
Now during a pandemic, my father is forced to stay more at home, still of course stuck to his phone, chatting up his mistresses. Twice a week he leaves to do his “rounds” in the hospital, carrying 500 dollars, possibly to give to his other families? It breaks my heart to see my mom like this. I don’t know what to do. He makes me hate the idea of marriage. I’d rather live happily single than be married to someone who’d seem great at the start then cheat forever and never change years down the road.
I need help. I plan on going to online counselling at some point. But all of this are still unresolved within the family. We never talk about it anymore. Just pangs of passive aggression here and there, then we’re back to normal in a few days. I’ve given up hope we’d ever confront it. I also don’t know how to help my poor mom. I know she tries to be strong but I want her to be happy too. I don’t know how. Everything is also affecting my studies. I’m going into 2nd year of medical school now, and I can’t focus. The quarantine has left me with my own demonic thoughts, some points I’d rather not live a life as purposeless as this. Adding to my thoughts are the poor taken advantaged of by our government, the sick who die every day. It all eats me up. I just sleep all day and I barely have energy to study for my exams. I stress eat too. My family doesn’t see all this since I spend my time in my room, I go out as a jolly daughter.
I can’t wait for the day my mom becomes happier, I have my own life, my brother gets his own happy family. I can’t depend my happiness on this family. It’s already too spoilt with my father’s lies. He’ll never change, that I’m sure of. But I also know somehow I still love him and this family. But some days I don’t see a point to it all. I consider myself a very empathetic, logical person. I strive to be happy. I put an effort into not overthinking. But some days are like today, I’m unproductive, consumed with my own thoughts, one negative thought after another.

Xilinx sells more profitable products and upon closing the deal will immediately be accretive to AMD and give AMD a much broader array of product offerings. Xilinx is the leading provider of adaptive computing solutions and its products will help AMD in its battle against leader Intel (INTC). Intel’s recent problems make the acquisition that much more important for AMD. “This is truly a compelling combination that will create significant value for all stakeholders, including AMD and Xililnx shareholders who will benefit from future growth and upside potential of the combined company,” AMD’s CEO Lisa Su. Very good news for AMD’s stock.
Facebook says “game on!” to cloud-streaming games on its platform
Facebook (FB) sees lots of its users playing video games online and wants a piece of the action. Facebook Gaming is launching cloud-streamed games on the Facebook app and on browser versions on the platform. The move by Facebook will expand its content library to more complex, multi-player games. Facebook’s model will be free to play, contrasting with Google’s (GOOG) Stadia and Amazon's (AMZN) Luna, both of which are subscription services. The claim from the government is that Tencent is close the Chinese Communist Party and the app can be used to disseminate propaganda to US citizens. The court has agreed with Tencent that the restrictions would violate the free speech rights of millions of Chinese Americans. Great news for Tencent’s stock.
